Introduction to archaeology

Archaeology is not a treasure hunt but consists mainly in the study of the past through the examination of the material traces left by humans : foundations of a house, remains of a meal, traces of tools, funerary monuments, …To do this, archaeologists must excavate, take notes, decipher and classify finds and traces found underground or underwater. Come and discover the different excavation techniques on site in a recreated dig site. You will learn how to use a trowel and a brush, how to mark out an excavation site and how to record finds. You will also learn to follow the different steps necessary to understand our history.
